In a town hall meeting in Johnstown, PA, in March 2008, Senator Barak Obama made comments about educating children as a part of trying to avoid sexually transmitted diseases and pregnancy. One of his statements was, "...look, I've got two daughters 9 years old and 6 years old. I am going to teach them first of all about values and morals. But if they make a mistake, I don't want them punished with a baby. I don't want them punished with an STD at the age of 16."
Mr. Obama, who is an abortion advocate, revealed one of his reasons for being in favor of abortion. He doesn't regard the unborn as a person. He regards a child conceived out of wedlock to be a punishment---equated with a sexually transmitted disease.
On this page we would like to post pictures and stories of both parents and children who proclaim that babies conceived in unwanted or unexpected circumstances are not punishment. To the contrary, regardless of the circumstances of conception, giving birth to those persons has redeemed the circumstances. If the children had been killed in the womb, that would have been punishing to both the child and the parents.

I was born out of wedlock in the 1940's in Arizona. My birth mother was not married and traveled across the country to give birth in secret in order to avoid scandal among her friends and family. More than 30 years later I searched for her and found her. She turned out not only to be a wonderful person but also a Christian. She came from a family that was wealthy enough to have arranged for an abortion but she said that was not what she wanted. She put me into the hands of local authorities in Arizona and prayed that God would lead in my life. He did. I was adopted into the home of a pastor and his wife who became treasures to me and was used to teach me of God's love and to influence my life of ministry.
My birth mother died of cancer several years ago, but we both rejoiced at God's redemption of what was the worst experience in her life. I had the privilege of thanking her for not ending my life in the womb. Andre Crouch's song became a favorite of both hers and mine, To God Be The Glory!
MY BIRTH WAS NOT PUNISHMENT

My mother was a single 23 year old divorced woman with a 5 year old little girl when she met a man and became pregnant out of wedlock. This was 1973. Although she already had a child and had no desire to have another especially outside of marriage, she couldn't bring herself to have an abortion. It was just wrong and she couldn't do it. May 31st 1974 she gave birth to a healthy baby girl. She worked hard to raise two girls on her own. My name is Tara and I am the baby that was not a punishment. I became a Christian in 2001 and in 2007 I lead my mother to the Lord and now I have lead my sister to the Lord, she was baptized this year in August. So my mother had a choice back in 1973, to not make her life any harder than it already was, or to follow her heart and not have an abortion. My birth saved both my sister and my mother, and now we will be in heaven together rejoicing with the Lord.
